Rebecca Spit
Wow, continued to be very windy here. Decently stressful day.
I’m frustrated. I spent 10 minutes writing up my thoughts and I forgot that this app really sucks. When you switch to another app and come back to it, it erases all of your writing so.. I’m trying to rewrite what I wrote.
We anchored around 8:15 with enough time for Brian to get ready for his 9:00 a.m. meeting. First thing I did was take Maui to shore to go potty. I love the trails here at Rebecca Spit.
After that I called two marinas to see if there was space for us at the dock. The one was completely full and the other only had space on the outermost dock which the woman on the phone said two power boaters had just left because it was too uncomfortable for them.
Luckily the closer Marina said that I could park my dinghy at their dingy dock for a $10 fee to be able to run to the grocery store. So I went to the grocery store after I brought Maui back to the boat and headed to that dock on my dinghy and when I arrived the man I spoke to said if I was just going to the store I didn’t need to worry about paying the $10. Score.
So I walked to the grocery store probably about 6 blocks. There was a small gift shop as well as a post office and a small coffee shop in the building with the grocery store. So I stopped at the small gift shop and bought a few items and then did my grocery shopping. I had my backpack full and both of my reusable bags were completely full. As I was leaving there was an employee who kind of chuckled at me and said are you sure you got it all?
Walking into the grocery store actually felt really overwhelming to me. It’s been about a month and a half since I’ve been in a store that size and this was still a mini grocery store. The produce selection was everything I could think of including items like bok choy, spinach, kale, etc. I stood in front of the bread section almost paralyzed by how many choices I had. It’s really interesting to experience something like that, which helps me really understand exactly how fortunate I am to spend most of my time in a city that not only provides one grocery store with those kinds of options, but multiple grocery stores.
I walked the six blocks back to my dingy and then spent 15 minutes boating from the dock back to Yahara and then spent 15 minutes finding space for all the groceries I just bought and rearranging the fridge.
