Our time was up to leave the dock, so we made the short, 1 hour trip south back to Henry Bay while we wait for weather to clear up to go to Tribune Bay.

Went clamming again and had oysters Rockefeller again.

We hadn’t eaten the clams I got here last time, so while I wait for this batch to purge sand, I made clam chowder with the first batch.

It’s delicious here!

Also… Found out that we have a fish finder under our boat!!

I’m planning to get a fishing setup (rod, reel, tackle) in our next sizable town.

I’m thinking Nanaimo on Thursday. They have a killer chandlery there, with SO much fishing gear.

IF I could go fishing even 1x before we get back, I will be so proud of myself. Even if I don’t catch anything!

I’m learning all this shit on my own. I don’t have anyone here to show me the ropes. I’m spending lots of time researching equipment and I’ve been chatting with chatgpt to help me make a shopping list.

In Comox, I went into a store called gone fishing. I wanted so bad to get a setup, but hadn’t yet done as much research as I needed. (This stuff is pricy! I want to try to get the best setup for what I’m trying to do)

Anyway… I browsed the store for 20 minutes. And I watched the employees quickly help every single man that entered the store, while I was invisible. It was really disheartening.

Why didn’t I ask them for help?.. I was too intimidated. And I can read body language… It was apparent they didn’t want to help me, or at least… someone who looked like me.

So i went back to the boat empty handed. I’ll spend my money elsewhere. I’ve waited a long time. I can wait a little longer.

I’m hopeful I will have a better experience next time I go shopping. Fingers crossed.
