We woke up this morning on the dock at Shearwater and went to breakfast with the group. I love getting weekend breakfast and it was fun to get the chance to do that at a restaurant. I really really enjoyed it. It was a classic breakfast with four strips of bacon, over easy eggs, hash browns and sourdough buttered toast. Yum!!! I enjoyed two cups of coffee that was prepared by somebody else.

We left the dock at 9:30 and I practiced being at the helm. It was a very easy departure because we were at the end of the dock with no one in front of us or behind us and very little wind. But docking the boat and leaving the dock is very intimidating. So to build my confidence muscle, I’m starting with very simple situations. No damage was done to the boat, but somehow we managed to still have an argument.

Since it’s Saturday, I decided to get some wedding editing done while we were underway, and Brian spotted an eagle swimming. I went up to the cockpit with my camera. Brian suspected the eagle had caught a fish but it was too big to fly with it so it was swimming to shore. And sure enough he was right. Toward the end of the swim, the eagle was clearly exhausted and the fish was still alive and then brought it out of the water.

It was really fascinating to watch. I think I have some decent pictures of the event on my camera.

Weather today is nice. Good temp, the sun is shining, there are some high clouds and some breeze, but a really beautiful July day.

We are on our way to Pruth, which was one of my favorite spots so far. The beaches are just wonderful! Maybe I’ll find more bull kelp and make some delicious, nutritious treats.

On passage, I spent some time editing a wedding I’m working on, and when we arrived we went for a nice long hike to the last beach that we hadn’t explored last time. North beach. Brian said it was his favorite.

I found lots of rocks and shells for my collection. And I indeed found some good bull kelp on the shore.
