Made it to Nanaimo!
After checking into Canada, we decided to make a big push!
We needed to time out Dodd Narrows to get to Nanaimo. Slack tide in the narrows was at 5pm. We arrived at 4:30. So we were against 1.5 knots of current. There was very little boat traffic, only a couple logs (there can be several in the narrows because Nanaimo is a big logging export city) and weather was ok. So we were fine going through a bit early.
We got guest moorage at Nanaimo port authority dock.
We took Maui for a walk, then brought her back to the boat while we celebrated by going out to dinner at one of our favorite places.
It just so happens that Nanaimo has an arts walk every Thursday in the summer and this Thursday was the opening arts walk!
So we bought some things to enjoy. After the arts walk, we enjoyed margaritas and dessert at a floating restaurant.
It was a beautiful, but long day.
