Poet’s Cove Marina

Poet’s Cove Marina is a cruising favorite within the Gulf Islands of British Columbia.

Marina amenities vary by season.

From June to September, marine amenities include washrooms and showers, laundry facilities, gas, diesel and basic boating items, ice, and fresh water.

The lower pool is seasonal and accessible during the summer months.

During the off-season months, amenities include washrooms and showers, laundry facilities, and access to the resort’s upper pool and hot tub, which are heated year-round.

The Pools

The pools at Poet’s Cove Resort are perhaps the creme de la creme here. The view for the lower pool is insanely beautiful! However it gets EXTREMELY hot in the summer. In early July we were able to enjoy them while being uncomfortable, but when we visited again in mid-August they were basically unusable.

Supposedly they use the excess heat created from the AC in the resort to heat the pools. The outside temperature was 85 and the pool was steaming. The hot tub was colder than the pool.

A fellow boater told us when he was visiting 4 years ago, he experienced the same, and was hopeful that the resort would have resolved the issue by now, but they haven’t. So who knows if/when they will? Big Bummer.

The Gift Shop & Restaurant

The gift shop, known as Moorings Market is a coffee bar and also a cold beer and wine store. It had VERY limited groceries, and as a head’s up, it also closed early the few days while we were there.

Poet’s Cove restaurant, Syrens Bistro & Lounge was delicious. The Poke Nachos were our favorite!

Hiking Mt. Norman

We decided to enjoy Beaumont Marine Park with a hike up Mt. Norman.

We were warned that the hike up Mt. Norman would be steep, and folks were right. Haha.

Approximately half way, Brian asked… “man, is it worth it to keep going?”

“Well, we’ll probably be disappointed if we don’t finish it.”

And that’s right. We would have been really disappointed to miss THIS view at the top of Mt. Norman.
