Getting Our First Sailboat, Honey Badger

There’s a saying… that you never forget your first love.

For us, her name was Honey Badger.

She was a 1978 Tanzer 22’. And anytime we mention to fellow sailors that we started on a Tanzer 22 they all say, ‘oh nice, that’s a great boat.’

To be honest, we really had no idea when we first got her, but quickly learned all those sailors are right!

She originally was our friend, Craig’s boat, and our story starts with getting invitations to go sailing with him on the Columbia River.

Craig would often let us be the skipper, trim the sails, and even dock!

Craig’s dog, Chewie and our dog, Maui are best friends, and would often join us on our sails.
